August 17, 2004 Libertarian candidate offers choice in election Frank Cagle recently wrote an op-ed piece ostensibly showing the differences between liberals and conservatives. In reality, he intended to show just how hypocritical both positions can be and did it beautifully. Conservatives support our economic freedom but have no difficulty telling us how to run our personal lives. Liberals support our personal freedom but have no difficulty telling us how to run our economics. In fact, one is against personal freedom, while the other is against economic freedom. Want to keep what you earn to do with as you please? Don't ask a liberal. Want to engage in an activity that is frowned upon by the religious majority? Don't ask a conservative. Want to do both? In other words, want to exercise your inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? There is only one political party that stands for all of your rights - the Libertarian Party. Libertarians want to reduce government intrusion into both your economic and personal decisions. To read the News Sentinel, you'd never know there is a Libertarian candidate for president, Michael Badnarik. A Libertarian candidate has been on the ballot in all 50 states for each of the past three elections and Badnarik is expected to be on every state ballot this November. The Libertarians are the third largest political party in America with over 600 elected officials at the national, state and local levels. They believe that you are the best judge of how to run your life. AL WESTERFIELD Crossville, Tenn. ------------------------
